Good morning for the last time, my dear hostiles. The whole "good morning, hostiles" started off because it reminded me and a few other people of the line from Charlie's Angels. Uh, anyway, today is the last episode of FH.

:: There really is only the one song for this page, and that song would be Old College Try by The Mountain Goats.
:: I really, really regret putting "The End" down there. It's good for a laugh, at least.
:: So this is how we end, with handholding and an effort being made. Fox finally admits that there's a problem, Collin agrees to try to deal with it, and there they are, getting help from an outside source. It was very important for me to keep the ending open while bringing closure to the biggest problem they had as a couple: Collin refused to deal with their problems anymore, and Fox living in denial. Now they're not. What comes next?
Do the guys work out their problems, settle down, and make a family? Two point five kids (Padma would be the happiest grandpa ever), a dog or two, a house in the suburbs with a white picket fence and PTA meetings?
Do they call it quits amicably and continue to be friends, maybe one day being best friends again, supporting each other through their various new relationships and adventures?
Does Fox wake up one morning and find that Collin is hauling a suitcase to his shiny silver BMW, and after being confronted and giving Fox a speech about how "it's just not working out," Collin drives away in the early morning light (butterflies in his stomach, gripping the steering wheel like his life depends on it), leaving Fox to go back to bed and force himself to cope with the reality of the situation?
I know what ending I'm choosing, and it will continue Fox and Collin's story in Other People's Business, but I'm not going to force it on you and tell you it has to be that way for you. That's why I wanted the ending to be open to a number of options.
:: And thank you to everyone who has been reading this comic. It's been a great experience for me, and it has meant a lot to me. I hope you've enjoyed it even a little bit.

Also, that last ending you described totally grabbed said heart and tugged on it most painfully. It works beautifully as a story, but--heartstrings, tugging, etc.
I'm already enjoying the new comic, but this one will always remain one of my favorites.

Ah, that ending. I think it makes a lot of sense, as well.
Thank you, I appreciate that very much.

Excellent, I have indeed seen you over at OPB. I hope you're liking it so far!
(Yes, definitely! I do apologize, it's just been a very harried time for me lately.)

NNNNOOOOOOO
I love this comic. I'm sad to see it ending. I for one hope they makeup and work out all their problem I think it would be a shame for all those year together to end with one driving away and not saying goodbye. They both are better then that. Thank you for such a lovely story and for sharing it with us. Now, on to OPB. I'm gotta miss being a Hostile.August 22 2009, 21:55:30 UTC 2 years ago
Re: NNNNOOOOOOO
Well, I figure they'd say goodbye. Collin would, anyway - Fox might be too dumbstruck in that scenario to say anything.Thank you so much for reading.

I have a feeling it's going to end with Collin leaving, and Fox becoming obsessed with taking down Creed Corp. in order to win back his love. But that's just my own theory.
I can also imagine the semi-convincing speech that Fox gives when he suggests going to Counciling.
Fox: "It starts with us not dealing with things, then pretty soon we're doing separate things, then we start sleeping in separate bedrooms, then we're in separate houses... then YOU decide to sell yours, fall in love with the real estate agent, I find out about it, start hitting the bottle... then one day I'm on my bench in front of the liquor store, you walk by and you don't even know me!"

That..that Foxman speech...That just made my day slightly better for having just lost FH.
I must thank you for this.

I love you. I love this comic. I've followed it since it first started up and, just, so completely glad I did. Big part of my life three times a week for the past five years. You're incredible and I love your characters. I followed BMB, I followed FH, and I know I'm going to follow OPB, too. <3
I have the same feeling

I'm really going to miss it. Real endings in life are rarely neat, but if they're between people that love each other, and they're real lucky, they can end with hope. Like this one does.
It's reality without Funky Winkerbeaning it, and it's silly without becoming a never-ending random gagfest. It's rare that a slice-of-life comic resonates with me the way this one did, but it walks the line, and warms my heart, every time.
(And don't tell my girlfriend, but I think I'm in love with Derringer a little bit.)

Good, I'm so glad this comic managed that. I wanted the ending to be believable, but not, you know, maudlin.
(Your secret is safe with me.)

Unless, of course, option C comes with awkward moments, sexual tension, bitterness, some angry sex sprinkled in here and there and eventually wraps around to resemble something similar to option A, then I could get behind it. After all, I feel they do deserve something a little more epic than counseling to get them back together.
I can't believe how oddly invested in their relationship I am. :P It makes me so incredibly sad thinking there's a possibility that they broke up. To the point of actual tears. Or maybe just one. But there's definite wetness. I'll get over it. :)
